Description:
Cushion Spurge is a drought-tolerant, non-spreading perennial. It has attractive, cushion-shaped mounds of medium green leaves. Showy, bright yellow flowers (actually bracts, or modified leaves) bloom on erect stems, April-May. This perennial has showy, red to purple fall foliage. It prefers dry, well-drained soils and tolerates poor soils. Cushion Spurge is an aggressive self-seeder; deadhead spent flowers to prevent unwanted seeding. The milky sap of this plant may cause skin irritation. Cushion Spurge is an excellent choice for borders because of its non-spreading, neatly mounding growth habit.
