This year, the webinar series returned! Jersey-Friendly Yards webinars are free and provided via Microsoft Teams. The live sessions are an hour long including time for questions. JFY Made Simple: Steps, Certification, and Resources

This webinar, presented by Bailey Sanders, former Stewardship Specialist at the Barnegat Bay Partnership, introduced participants to the Jersey-Friendly Yards program. Attendees learned practical steps for creating low-maintenance, eco-friendly landscapes, explored resources available through the program, and gained an overview of the certification process for schools, communities, and homeowners.

Growing Native Plants in Small Spaces

Elaine Silverstein of the Native Plant Society of New Jersey shared strategies for incorporating native plants into even the smallest yards, patios, and container gardens. The webinar highlighted plant choices suited to limited spaces, practical design tips, and the ecological benefits of using native species to support pollinators and other wildlife.

Invasive Species Talks

Dr. Mike Van Clef, Program Director of the Invasive Species Strike Team, led a discussion on the ecological impacts of invasive plants and animals. Drawing on more than 25 years of experience in rare species conservation, invasive species management, and deer management, he shared guidance on identifying common invasive species and effective strategies for control.
