Description:

One of the first plants to bloom in the spring, this perky low-growing plant has lobed green leaves and bright yellow poppy-like flowers. The buds emerge covered with white filaments, and take turns blooming daily, offering a bounty of delightful yellow flowers. Once the flowers die back, the lush leaves will provide a green backdrop throughout the summer. Celedine Poppy can withstand short periods of drought, but the leaves will brown and wither in prolonged drought conditions. It’s preferred slightly shady or full shade conditions should provide some relief from dry periods.  Will self-seed in optimum growing conditions. Excellent addition to your shade garden or woodland edge. Plant along partly-shady path edges or mixed with your colorful annuals. Although not a New Jersey native, Celadine Poppy is native to nearby midwestern states.
